Spring is coming and that means new life! At our fish world you can see something very special: axolotl-eggs! This cute species recently laid eggs, and you can see them up close. We'll also tell you all about them
Recognize the eggs
After mating, the female lays her eggs scattered over plants, rocks or other surfaces in the aquarium. The eggs are small, transparent balls with a dark core and are usually laid in large numbers, sometimes as many as 100 to 1000!

How long does the process take
After about 10 to 14 days (depending on the temperature) the eggs will hatch. You will see the embryos develop and slowly become small axolotl larvae. Once they hatch, they will hang still for a while before they start to move.
After a few weeks the larvae start to develop small legs and can move on to larger food animals such as daphnia and later pieces of bloodworms. As they grow you can move them to larger tanks and prepare them for their further life as an axolotl.

Spring
Our estimate now is that you may see them hatch or have just hatched around the spring break of February 22nd through March 2nd, 2025.
Of course, this is not the only thing you can do Avonturia. Curious about what else?
